Placer County 4-H Turns Out For Community Service

The annual Placer County 4-H Still Exhibit Day was held on January 30, 2016 and BrickDreams was there.  4-Hers from across Placer County gathered project entries to be judged before the fair season. There were community projects alongside BrickDreams including Valentines for Veterans.  BrickDreams was honored to be part of a day of service to our community.  Placer County 4-H Still Exhibit 013016Placer County 4-H Still Exhibit 3 013016 Placer County 4-H Still Exhibit 2 013016

Their effort will go to some deserving kids.

Make a Difference Day 2015 102216
Thank you to all the wonderful volunteers who supported BrickDreams during the 2015 Make a Difference Day. We had volunteers from the general public, 4-H, Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts. We even had a volunteer who drove from Concord, CA to volunteer. Thank you Beckie! Together, 9 cases of LEGOs were sorted and are now ready to get into the hands of the kids. We couldn’t do it without you.

Thank You to the BrickDreams Volunteers at Cavitt Jr. High School!

On May 18th, 2015, as part of CJSF, Cavitt Jr. High School students were given the opportunity to volunteer for BrickDreams. In addition to Mrs. Davis’s 20 students, who opted to help BrickDreams during 7th period, 29 volunteers stayed after school for two hours.

The first group sorted through hundreds of pounds of LEGO by removing non-LEGO items as well as any weapons. Another set of students stuffed the sorted LEGO into donated empty tennis ball containers. Other Cavitt volunteers labeled and boxed the BrickDreams containers to ready them for distribution; the students packaged 191 tennis ball containers (95.5 pounds). In just a few short hours, the Cavitt Jr. High students changed the course many kids’ lives. We appreciate all of the volunteers’ hard work to help others less fortunate.IMG_5165 IMG_5166 IMG_5167 IMG_5168 IMG_5169 IMG_5170 IMG_5173 IMG_5176 IMG_5177 IMG_5178 IMG_5179 IMG_5180 IMG_5181 IMG_5182 IMG_5193-1Special thanks to; Mrs. Shannon Laurin, Mrs. Shelly Davis, Mrs. Lisa VandeSteeg, and Mrs. Jennifer Platt and the rest of the Cavitt Junior High School staff.

Rutz Family

Thank you, Rutz Family!  We forgot to take pictures last night…

Kyle, Lleyton, and their mom, Susan have helped BrickDreams so often, and in so many ways, but we feel that we have not acknowledged them fully!

The Rutz family volunteered for us in the past by sorting and packaging LEGO for distribution.  They also gathered several large bags filled with tennis ball containers for us.  Last night, Lleyton and Kyle showed us a square prototype tray made of wood which was bought by their parents.  In the center of the tray, they glued flat LEGO pieces.  This will be so helpful for the staff of domestic violence shelters and interview centers.  Children can build LEGO scenes in a contained tray, and clean-up will be much easier than trying to pick up LEGO from the floor of the waiting rooms or playrooms.  In addition, the Rutz brothers also plan to sort and package more LEGO for us over the next few weeks.

Thank you, Rutz Family!  We truly appreciate your help!

Thank you to Kyle and Lleyton Rutz as well as their mom, Susan, for spending this morning volunteering for BrickDreams.

They sorted and packaged 20 tubes of LEGO (10 pounds) which will be donated next week.  Also, an early birthday shout-out to them – they turn 12 tomorrow!  Happy Birthday Lleyton & Kyle!
